About Women's Mining Coalition

Committed to our nation, our communities, our families and our livelihoods.

Mission

WMC’s mission is to advocate for today’s modern domestic mining industry which is essential to our Nation.

Message

A strong mining industry is vitally important to America. WMC members bring the message that U.S. jobs depend on mining and that today’s regulations and modern technology ensure state-of-the-art environmental protection at our country’s mines. WMC members provide policy makers with first-hand information about the technological advancements and environmental stewardship of today’s mining industry. We provide members of Congress, policy makers, and regulators with facts about the modern mining industry and the importance of mining to the U.S. economy and our daily lives.  The Women's Mining Coalition facilitates and provides the opportunity for our members to band together for a stronger voice with their Congressional delegation and with regulating agencies.

History

WMC has been an active grassroots organization since 1993, bringing constituents together from across the country to communicate with members of Congress and regulatory agencies.  WMC has continued its mission since then, addressing various legislative and regulatory issues facing the mining industry.

Focus

The Women’s Mining Coalition organizes grassroots outreach efforts in our home states as well as in Washington, D.C., including an annual trip to our Nation’s Capitol to meet with members of Congress and their staff, in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Participants meet in excess of 200 Senators and Representatives during our trips to DC, distributing important information about issues facing the mining industry.
WMC publishes white papers and op-eds on legislative and regulatory topics that impact the mining industry in the U.S. Our members attend mining-related conferences where we staff a booth, talk to prospective individual and corporate members, and connect with our dedicated sponsors and members.

Members

WMC’s members and participants come from many diverse sectors including metals, coal, iron ore, construction materials, and industrial minerals companies; manufacturers and suppliers; trade associations; and consultants. WMC continues to expand its network into these many sectors, helping the mining industry expand its nationwide outreach and effectiveness. The issues facing our industry require participation from stakeholders nationwide.
