Terah Burdette

Terah Burdette is a Permitting/Quality Assurance Engineer for Arch Resources, Inc. (formerly Arch Coal, Inc.), where she has worked since 1997.  Terah provides technical support to all of Arch’s Eastern Region Operations.  In this capacity, she serves as a liaison between operation’s management staff and State and Federal regulatory agencies, requiring her to monitor and respond to the ever-changing regulatory requirements for Arch’s Central and Northern Appalachia operations.

 
While attending college and following graduation from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Terah was employed in the private sector as a consultant providing engineering and geological services to mining companies located in Central Appalachia.  She was instrumental in developing the Mining Department at Michael Baker Jr. Inc.’s Charleston, West Virginia office.


Terah has comprehensive working knowledge on SMCRA permits; State 401 Individual Water Quality Certifications; Section 402, Clean Water Act – NPDES Permits; and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Section 404 Individual and Nationwide Permits.

She is also a past President and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Mining Coalition, an active grass roots organization since 1993, whose mission is to deliver to legislators, on both state and federal levels, that a strong, modern domestic mining industry is essential to our nation, our communities, our families, and our livelihoods, and that today's regulations and technology ensure responsible stewardship of our lands.
