Critical and Strategic Minerals:
WMC asks the Senate to pass Senator Lisa Murkowski’s (R-AK) Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015 (S.2012) so it can be conferenced with the National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act (H.R.1937).

CERCLA 108(b) Financial Assurance:
WMC supports the provisions included in the 2016 House and Senate Interior and Environment Appropriations bills that prohibit the EPA from finalizing and implementing any regulation that would establish new financial responsibility requirements.

Dept. of Interior Regulatory Initiatives for Coal:
WMC urges the Senate’s passage of S.1458, the STREAM Act of 2015 (Supporting Transparent Regulatory and Environmental Actions in Mining Act), introduced by Senator Coats.
WMC requests reduced funding for OSM’s regulatory program, along with not funding the Stream Protection Rule rulemaking process.
WMC advocates a halt to DOI’s federal coal leasing moratorium and changes to the federal coal leasing program.

EPA Carbon Regulations & Technology Imperative:
WMC endorses an “All of the Above” energy policy. WMC supports eliminating funds for EPA to implement, enforce, or to continue development of the policy framework to advance the Clean Power Plan. WMC urges Congressional support for coal technology advancement, including expanding 45Q tax credits for Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage.

Sage Grouse - The widespread mineral withdrawals and stringent land use restrictions the US Department of the Interior is proposing in sage-grouse habitat areas throughout the west pose the most serious threat to natural resource development in decades – despite the significant sage-grouse conservation efforts underway in western states.
