Terah Burdette, Arch Coal

Terah BurdetteTerah Burdette is a past President and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Mining Coalition. 

While attending college and following graduation from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Terah was employed in the private sector as a consultant providing engineering and geological services to mining companies located in Central Appalachia.  She was instrumental in developing the Mining Department at Michael Baker Jr. Inc.’s Charleston, West Virginia office.

In 1997 she joined Arch Coal, Inc., initially working exclusively on West Virginia projects.  Currently Terah is a Permitting/Quality Assurance Engineer in Arch’s Charleston, West Virginia office, providing technical support to Arch’s Eastern Region Operations that has operations in Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia. In this capacity, Terah serves as a liaison between operation’s management staff and State and Federal regulatory agencies, requiring her to constantly monitor and respond to the ever changing regulatory requirements for Arch’s Central and Northern Appalachia operations.

Terah has comprehensive working knowledge on SMCRA permits; State 401 Individual Water Quality Certifications; Section 402, Clean Water Act – NPDES Permits; and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Section 404 Individual and Nationwide Permits.
